This was a first. I’m sure there are plenty others who have had this, but it was fun to see today…
Last month I think it was R33!
So there are three of us on our property. Morgan stays in Granny’s cottage and Mike and I live in our house. I’m not sure how Morgan has been saving water, but whatever she does is working. Mike and I are flushing the loo with shower water caught in a bucket in the shower. We do two loads of laundry a week – one for colours and one for whites, which includes the linen. We shower one after the other so that the water only has to heat up once. We get wet and then turn the water off while we soap down and then a quick rinse. The other day I timed it to be about 1 minute 30 or 40 seconds and that’s with the water having to heat up. For the person showering second, it can be done in 60 seconds. As I mentioned the other day, I’ve been washing my hair outside using the tank water. Saves water and as it’s rain water, my hair is lovely and soft. I’ve also been bringing in buckets of water for extra loo flushes so that the toilet is not ever flushed with drinking water.
The new Level 4 restrictions that kick in 1st June include only 100 litres per person per day, which means we can go up to 300 litres a day. We can just carry on what we are doing, because right now we are only using 176 litres a day, so that’s pretty darn great!
Well done Morgan! She actually leaves soon to go back to the States for a few weeks. We will miss her.
Isaiah 58:11
“And the LORD will continually guide you, And satisfy your desire in scorched places, And give strength to your bones; And you will be like a watered garden, And like a spring of water whose waters do not fail.”
Today has been another sunny day. I went out on the balcony and there was Truffles, perched in the neighbour’s tree. No amount of calling her would lure her off her spot!
#298 of my 1000 thanks is for long Saturday phone calls to my sweet daughter Stacey.
These are the days!
Keep the smile going.
God bless you!
In His Grip,
Helga xx 🙂
