Walking off the Quiche…

5-28pm

It’s been a very productive day. I spent the morning in a meeting at Living Hope where business was conducted between mouthfuls of the most amazing quiche! If I had known it was about 200 calories per slice (and I had one full slice and another about 3/4 slice!!), I wouldn’t have had so much! I should have taken a photo but I didn’t so I had to find a royalty-free one online!

After the meeting,  I strapped my netbook into my car (much to Karen’s amusement) and went shopping…

I went to Sun Valley Mall where Allison sells cakes at the Triangle Square Market each week.  I needed change to pay the gardener (any excuse will do!) so I bought 4 chocolate brownies (here comes more calories)!  Allison threw an extra one in for free!

On arriving home, no one was home except Granny. I made her one of her favourite lunchtime snacks (beans on toast) and tea and she had the brownie for dessert.  One brownie weighed 70g and according to www.myfitnesspal.com, it contains about 128 calories for 35g!! I made coffee and had half one. It was soooooo good, that I ate the other half… 🙂

I will definitely be buying those again (R5 each!)

Granny & I watched Keeping up Appearances which was hilarious. Mike arrived home.  I boiled the fruit for the next Christmas Cake. I also cooked some sausage for David and Granny for wors rolls tonight. Mike & I are going out for dinner.

With the dinner date in mind, I left Mike having a nap and armed with a bottle of water and a copy of Romans 12 in hand I headed towards Fish Hoek. 78 minutes and 8km later I blew back in again. According to My Fitness Pal, walking at 4miles an hour used up an incredible 455 calories!   I now have 700+ calories left for dinner! All this calorie counting definitely works in helping prevent over-eating. On weighing myself this morning, I was in the 60s for the first time in a number of years, even if it was 69.75kg!

I tried to memorise the first three verses of Romans 12:

“Therefore, I urge you brothers in view of God’s mercy to offer your bodies as  living sacrifices, holy and pleasing to God – this is your spiritual act of worship. Do not conform any longer to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is, His good, pleasing and perfect will. For by the grace given me I say to every one of you: Do not think of yourself more highly than you ought, but rather think of yourself with sober judgment, in accordance with the measure of faith God has given you.”

I love this chapter. It is so practical and committing it to memory can only result in a better me. I have a long way to go in remembering it perfectly. I had quite a number of corrections to make.  But I know I can, if I persevere.

Enjoy the evening!

In His grip!

Helga xx 🙂
