Wake Me Up When September Ends

This September will probably go down as very memorable for all the wrong reasons except one. It’s been a torrid month and the line from the song, “wake me up when September ends” could not be more appropriate.

Today the bulk of the new burglar bars arrived and were installed. There are a couple more to arrive later in the week and then we will be sleeping much better at night. Unfortunately, with all the stress and anxiety, Mike and I both blew off a bit of angry steam at the burglar bar people for the missing ones. It was partly my fault and partly theirs. I asked them to provide a certain number and they reduced them by two and sent me the quote with the missing two. I didn’t check the full quote, only the price, paid and then expected them all.

Misunderstanding, but Mike and I both threw a hissy fit.

I think we have both apologised enough. The burglar bar people are making big money out of crime in this country.

The other thing that freaked us out is that a guy was found in the middle of the night prowling the street (round the corner from us) with a massive home-made weapon and a pair of gloves. The police picked him up, slap on the wrist, no finger prints taken and he was let go.

Head banging stuff.

So very frustrating.

Then I also left my cell phone charger at the hotel, so now I’ve borrowed JJ (my waiter’s)! Julian will try pick it up tomorrow.

#423 of my 1000 thanks is that amidst the anxiety, frustration and ire of what has been happening, I can always find something good to ponder on, to smile about and to thank Jesus for.  Today I had a big one of those and I am so grateful!

I’m sitting at O.R Tambo airport and about to head off through security to the departure lounge. The interviews today went off okay amidst the stress of finding out about the burglar bars!

Trusting God in all circumstances is tough. Today I didn’t feel I represented Him too well, but in seeking His forgiveness, it’s time to stop beating myself up, press the restart button and move forward.

Psalm 146:2

I will praise the LORD all my life; I will sing praise to my God as long as I live.

To wrap up, this is the third cat that Julian, Jess and Gerrie have. His name is Gabriel. Isn’t he beautiful? He is so affectionate.

These are the days!

Keep the smile going.

God bless you!

In His Grip,

Helga xx 🙂
