Visiting Vredehoek

Today, on taking Julian to the airport, we went the very s-c-e-n-i-c route. From Sun Valley, we took Chapman’s Peak and over the saddle at Camp’s Bay through to Vredehoek. We stopped at Sidewalk Cafe. The view from the road is spectacular….

There are a couple of cafes on this Derry Street, Vredehoek. They are cute neighbourhood gathering places, far up the road from Gardens Centre and the city where flat dwellers and home owners alike can meet and greet. We went to the Sidewalk Cafe…

…with its rustic interior and great coffee…

Next time, we hope to go down the road to the Red Sofa Cafe. Sounds great. We are breaking out from our favourite (Blue Cafe!)

Vredehoek is not a place that Mike and I spent too much time. It was always there, but our neck of the woods was more on the other side, over in Tamboerskloof, where we lived for the first six months of our married life. Gardens Centre holds many memories. We hung out there quite often while we were dating. Mike proposed to me there and we had dinner in one of the restaurants at Gardens Centre the night before we married. Good happy memories.

Julian got dropped off at the airport and I returned home. I had my weekly shower! It sounds so bizarre but it’s true. I last had a proper shower at home last Sunday. In between there were lots of buckets of tank water used and a couple of quick showers at the gym. This coming week, we will go visit Stacey and Adrian. Swellendam has no water issues. I will stand in that shower and let the water run! 🙂

#631 of my 1000 thanks is for Sunday lunch – roast chicken and veggies. Plenty of leftovers for tomorrow.

2 Peter 2:9

The Lord knows how to rescue godly people from their trials.

These are the days.

Keep the smile going.

God bless you.

In His Grip,

Helga xx 🙂

No exercise today!
