I’ve never been there before. Today was the day to go. With my brother in town, we drove to Stellenbosch and turned onto the Pniel/Franschoek Road. Ten kilometres further on comes the sign for Hillcrest Berry Orchards…
The entrance is unobtrusive and rustic. This is a working farm, so simplicity is the order of the day. From the car park the first thing you notice is the absolutely spectacular view of the mountains…
Breakfast was had on the picturesque terrace…with beautiful scents wafting in from the gardens…
And of course, the mountain views were breath-taking…
We were there for the berries…spoiled for choice…

It’s certainly worth the hour or so, drive from Cape Town – how lovely to get out into the country and enjoy scenery we are not used to. Another reminder that we live in the best area in the world. Cape Town and its surrounds. Nothing beats it!
