Visiting Local Markets

Time passes by so quickly. It’s difficult to slow it all down and embrace each moment.  It’s not easy finding the balance between getting the work done and enjoying life. I’m finding that sometimes when I’m not working, I feel guilty! I should be doing something.

Over the last few days we’ve had friends and family to entertain and so I’ve had the ability to get out to a couple of the local markets. The first was the newly created ‘Peach Pip Market’ at Rodgers Fruiters on Kommetjie Road, near Capri Village. We go there early and  I picked up the most delicious egg muffins which was breakfast.

Banting egg muffinsHad the weather been better, it would have been better. Being an outdoor market, it needs fine weather to really enjoy. They did have a couple of clothing stalls, selling second hand clothes at rock bottom prices. I could not resist R20 jeans! Yes! You read that right! R20!! Get there early for the real bargains.

After that we popped across to the indoor Earth Fair which is in a warehouse building close to Builders Warehouse in Tokai. It was buzzing!

Earth fairThere’s loads to see, taste and buy. It’s fresh, organic and varied. This was lunch…

Mike is not a market fan, so he didn’t join us, but I can imagine myself coming back to this one to while away an hour one Saturday morning. A few people I know won’t hesitate in joining me!

Mike has had a week off and I am so sorry he has to go back to work tomorrow. Roll on February 2016 when, God willing, he will retire. We both look forward to him being at home with equal enthusiasm. We just gel so well. We both get on with the work we need to do and after a couple of hours we meet in the lounge for tea. It’s so civil and enjoyable!  I’d love for him to retire today, but pensions have a way of rising rapidly in the final months of ones employment, so we will wait patiently for next year. Over and over again this year, I have come back to Solomon’s words in Ecclesiastes 1:1

“There is a time for everything, and a season for every activity under the heavens...”

We will wait for the next season, but in the meantime, we enjoy the one we’re in!

Keep the smile going.

God bless you!

In His Grip,

Helga xx
