Tim Noakes Tuesday

Today we had Professor Tim Noakes in the Rise and Shine studio from 7-8am. It’s always a thought provoking, educational hour.

We are hoping to get the audio off our system & edited by the end of the week. Last month there was a technical hitch, but I think this time round it should be fine. It will be here with all the others. I’ve also put up Dr. Neville Wellington’s chat with Wayne from this morning. It’s worth listening to – it’s about glucose monitoring.  Look for it under the Short Talks.

The 3 Day Low Carb eating plan is here.

One of the things that always ‘gets’ me when I listen to Tim Noakes is that nothing is always as it seems. Of 80 people who take simvastatin for high cholesterol only 1 (yes ONE) will benefit. And that staggering statistic is only in those who have had heart attacks. If you haven’t had a heart attack, it will only benefit 1 in something like 150. High cholesterol really reveals a deeper issue that is related to insulin/glucose/diabetic underlying causes. Get your HBA1C tested next time you have a blood test done.

One of the people mentioned on today’s programme is Terry Wahls  who defeated Progressive Multiple Sclerosis by changing her diet. You can read her story at www.terrywahls.com. We also discussed how much carbohydrate we should be eating. And this is what I wrote down:

If you are an elite athlete, aim for 200g or less of carbohydrate a day. If you are active, running regularly, training for 10km races, don’t eat more than 150g of carbs per day. If you are like me, relatively active, exercising for about an hour a day, don’t go a gram over 100g of carbs per day. If you are diabetic, cut back as much as you can, if you are able to 25g of carbs per day.

Genesis 9 vs 3 “Everything that lives and moves about will be food for you. Just as I gave you the green plants, I now give you everything.”

Good Reminder!

God bless you!

Gratitude / Happiness pic…More gratitude. I missed breakfast yesterday morning and ‘starved’ my way through the Rise and Shine show. I didn’t make that mistake this morning…
