Three Middle Aged Men Smoking Pot

Wednesday

Today was the day…

That it rained, so we didn’t go to the beach…again. Tomorrow we are going to have to. Instead, this afternoon we walked to the village for some shopping. We decided to walk back the mountain route. We walked up the road that connects with Ravine steps. As we approached the steps below Hillside, I saw a couple of older white guys see us coming and way before we arrived, they moved away from the stair well. They were a bit scruffy and certainly in their 50s or 60s. Mike stopped to turn his watch on. I continued up curious about these fellas. When I got to the stairs I was hit with a whiff of pot! Never have I been so close to it. There were 3 men sharing a joint. I know this because I sat down on the wall at the top of the stairs waiting for Mike and so was able to get a look at them. One of them passed the smoke to the other. I contemplated taking a photo of them, but they would have seen me and it was a bit brazen so I thought better of it. Mike arrived and we set off commenting on that is a sight you don’t often see – three middle aged men smoking pot.

There was an accident on the Red Hill Rd which Mike, Julian and I drove over just this last weekend. Sirens galore were heard and seen rushing towards Simon’s Town. Then this message was posted…

A short while later a medical helicopter flew over, so they must have been medi-vaccing someone out. They returned about 30-40 minutes later taking the injured to hospital. I hope they’re okay. That mountain pass is treacherous. If you take on of the bends too fast this is what happens.

Mike had spent most of the morning leveling under the house for his workshop/ storeroom. He has made grand progress.

This evening I feel like I’m on a reality show for putting on a clean house and soon the judges will arrive to check it. I have our first international guests arriving. They are a couple from Russia. How they are here I don’t know, but they have asked to come and see the guesthouse and if they like it, they want to stay for 4 weeks. Remember, Mike and I cleaned it yesterday? Today I touched it up and it’s as good as I can get it. They will be here in 20 minutes so we’ll see what they say. I think this may come to naught, but you never know. I have been putting the Airbnb link on Facebook in a lot of different places and am feeling it is getting some traction. Keeping the price low helps.

Matthew 6:28-30

Consider the lilies of the field, how they grow. Now if God so clothes the grass of the field, will He not much more clothe you?

The best is yet to come – we are only passing through.

Keep the smile going.

God bless you.

In His Grip,

Helga xx 🙂
