St Patrick’s Day 2011. Mike and I were blessed to visit London together. It was the only time Mike has been to the UK. Being South African, he resists going again as the visa price is so high for such a short duration. This photo was taken on 16th March 2011 and the next day Julian arrived to join us on a round Europe coach trip.
On 17th March 2011, in the evening, the three of us found ourselves wandering around Lewisham, a neighbouring area to where we were staying. We were looking for somewhere to have dinner. The place was busy and the pubs were alive with brightly clad revellers dressed in green celebrating St. Patricks Day. We were looking for somewhere quiet and were not having too much success. After sometime walking, Mike and Julian were chatting away and I was a bit frustrated by the lack of an eatery when it occurred to me to pray. I stepped out in faith, told the Lord our needs and asked Him to guide us to a restaurant. It was not more than a few minutes later we turned up a road and there on the left was a little gently lit quiet Turkish restaurant, perfect for our needs. There were not many people in it and we were happily taken to a table and enjoyed a memorable meal in Lewisham!
I have never forgotten that! St. Patricks Day 2011, I was in Lewisham, London at a Turkish Restaurant, which I found online – it’s called Levante…
Good memories!
Matthew 7:7
“Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you.”
#234 of my 1000 thanks is for good memories!
We (Mike, Julian and I) are going to be on another Italian adventure towards the end of the year. This time, Mike is arming himself with a mega app with the intention of being able to find restaurant information at the click of a button. It’s one of the things that can take a lot of time when you are away on holiday – where to eat. We have wandered many streets of foreign towns searching for the ‘perfect’ restaurant to spend our hard earned foreign currency. We would do a ‘cappuccino test.’ Most restaurants have menus on the wall outside and we would scrutinize them, not for their cheapest meal but instead for the price of their cappuccino. If the coffee was less than 2 Euros, it was a top contender! But walking from place to place eliminating restaurants that fail our cappuccino test takes time. It will be far quicker to plan the meal stops online.
But then too, we may miss out on seeing God’s provision as when I paused in London to pray!
These are the days!
Keep the smile going.
God bless you!
In His Grip,
Helga xx 🙂
