These Issues Take Time…

It was 4am and I woke to two things – POURING rain and the cat meowing!  Despite the rain, she needed to go out. She rushed towards the window and took an enthusiastic leap up to the window sill but the window was closed. Oops! She dropped back to the floor. I took her downstairs and opened the back door. She rushed outside, but stopped short when she saw the rain. Then she sat and looked. I sat on the kitchen door step. Together we watched the rain fall. I marvelled at how heavy it was. Water poured out the tank. It was glorious. Truffles took two steps forward and then sat down again. These issues take time and thought. Eventually, I’d had enough. I put some shoes on and took her into the middle of the front garden and dropped her onto the wet grass. She hopped across the grass, dug a hole as was wholly appropriate given the circumstances (!) and had a little leak. As soon as the job was done she dashed back to the cover. She didn’t want to come inside, but instead, with the rain still falling, she ran around the back and sheltered under the back eaves of the house.

That’s a cat for you.

I was having none of it. I followed her and took her inside. By now Mike was wide awake and even though it was 4-30am, he was downstairs making coffee! We sat and watched the news and then returned to bed. Truffles was not satisfied with being inside. She pleaded with us to let her out, so I did.

And we went back to sleep.

When I woke up (yes a big groggy), it was around 7am. After my quiet time, I got dressed for gym, and leaving Mike sleeping, I went off to work out!

When I got back, Mike was up and about. There were a couple more showers, but generally the rain was over. Truffles came in, pleading for food. Mike opened a tin of pilchards. Her wails reached fever pitch. She made short work of it…

And then went out into the breaking sunshine…

The rain was so welcome. It was so significant. Hopefully it spells the end of the drought and from here on, the dam levels will fill.

Tomorrow is a public holiday in South Africa. It’s Freedom Day. The day of the first democratic elections in South African in 1994. It’s also the day that (11 years ago), Adrian flew to Cape Town to meet Stacey. I don’t think I will ever forget that day. It was the first of a lot of flights back and forth from KZN to Cape Town for Adrian and Stacey made a number of those flights herself.  The Lord has a special plan.

I am doing some work tomorrow, but it won’t be anywhere close to the 7 hours I’ve worked today.

#642 of my 1000 thanks is for a lot of work this week. So grateful.

Julian arrives tonight and we will probably meet for breakfast tomorrow.

Exodus 6:7

I am the Lord your God who brings you out from under the burdens.

What a lovely verse.

These are the days.

Keep the smile going.

God bless you.

In His Grip,

Helga xx 🙂
