The Thief Came But Not To Steal

Wednesday

A few years ago (October 2016 to be precise) a thief scaled up onto our balcony while we in a different part of the house, entered our bedroom and stole my laptop and our wallets. On that day, just after it happened, I saw a certain person on the street with something red. I just caught a glimpse as he walked off down the road. It was some weeks later that I saw him again at the Mall and told Mike, ‘that was the guy who stole my laptop.’ Of course, we had no proof.

However, he knows where we live and he is one of Mike’s frequent visitors. Mike is wonderful with these visitors. I confess to not answering the door when they come and Mike is not here. When they come and Mike is home, he sees to then, listening to their sob stories bemused at the variation they come up with. Yesterday, the this guy came and rang the doorbell. Mike went outside and gave him something to eat and heard his latest story. This time it was a different one.

Here came the story of all stories. He had violated his parole conditions and had been summoned to town. To prove it, he gave Mike a letter from the authorities and sure enough, it said he had violated his parole conditions and had to appear somewhere in town by today. He said he didn’t have train fare and could Mike help! These chaps know Mike does not give money, but they insist on asking. Mike patiently looked at the letter and asked why he hadn’t done anything about it. The guy replied that if he hadn’t gone to church on Sunday, he would have been able to go. Mike told him that if he started walking, he would still get into town in time. Eventually, our convict gave up and taking his food, he left. On this occasion, the thief came but not to steal. Perhaps we won’t see him for a while.

Today, I went to Constantiaberg, saw my gynae and had a mammogram.

I hadn’t been since January 2017, so 2.5 years ago. I figure I’ll take care of myself and go again in 2.5 years time December 2021. They are very friendly there.

There’s been a fair amount of work today. With my trip to the hospital, I’ve managed just under 4 hours work. A slow week indeed and I’m enjoying each minute of it.

Psalm 18:2

The Lord is my rock, my fortress and my deliverer; my God is my rock, in whom I take refuge.

Amen!

These are the days.

Keep the smile going.

God bless you.

In His Grip,

Helga xx 🙂

Gym:

I cycled 20km and did the  5 weight machines…I did 3 sets of at least 20 reps for all except the shoulder press. That is much harder.
