The Ten Year Perspective

The other day I was listening to Dave Ramsey on YouTube.  A woman phoned in who was absolutely distraught. Life was really hard and she didn’t know what to do. She had managed to extricate herself from a chunk of debt and her husband had been sober for 9 months. Those were the good things, but life came tumbling down when her mother got a terrible diagnosis of lung cancer. As an only child, she was overwhelmed. She had to work, but who would look after her mother. She didn’t know what to do.

Dave Ramsey calmed her down and spoke her through her despair and confusion. Then he asked her if she could fast forward ten years and look back (as hindsight is 20/20) how would she like to have seen herself behave and react at this stage. It was such a wise comment and really put now in perspective. This is the calendar for May 2029.

It made me think. We have been debating putting garages at the Echo Rd house – a hefty bill is attached to that. But when I fast forward ten years and imagine what Echo Rd will be like then, it makes me think they must be done as part of this build and as soon as possible.  It suddenly became very clear that putting garages on the plans and getting them built is the wise thing to do.

Thanks Dave!

We trust the Lord for the ten years ahead. I haven’t even been blogging for ten years.  The earliest blog I can find on-line was published on iblog – it is 12-June-2011, so I’ve only been blogging daily for almost 8 years – but even that’s more than 2900 blogs.

When I look back on my life, I want to be able to say I was happy and grateful. It all starts with now.

Be happy and grateful! James has more advice.

James 1:21

Get rid of all filth and evil in your lives, and humbly accept the word God has planted in your hearts, for it has the power to save your soul.

These are the days.

Keep the smile going.

God bless you.

In His Grip,

Helga xx 🙂

  • Ran 5km pretty slowly – with a 5 minute cooldown I was on the treadmill for 44:35.
  • Spent 15 minutes doing weight-bearing exercises.
