As work has been so quiet, I’ve gone and got hooked on playing a word game on my cell phone. I play a lot with Riana and a couple of games with other friends. It’s called Words. Recently, I noticed they had what was called a Lightning Round where you get placed in a team of 5 in either the Blue Team or the Purple Team. When the game starts, you have to play as fast as possible. The team to get to 750 points first, wins. It doesn’t matter if you put down a low scoring word. The next team member will add to it. You have just got to do the best you can and go for it. The more I’ve played it, the more I’ve realised how important team work is. No one person can win this Lightning Round on their own. Everyone needs to participate. The games most easily won are those where everyone goes as fast as possible and we all get 100+ points…here’s a sample of the score at the end of one of the rounds. I don’t always come up at the top, trust me!
Playing the game is a constant reminder to me of the power of team work. We are all part of a bigger picture in life and if we all work together in work, in church, in community, greater things can get achieved.
Today, while Mike and I were out walking, we passed by Sunbeam Nursery School in Sun Valley. Both Stacey and David went there more than two decades ago. As we walked past, the Principal May Raphael was just leaving (it was after 6pm). I stopped for a brief chat, telling her that Stacey is turning 30 next week (a week today in fact). I also mentioned that Stacey had come to know the Lord right here at Sunbeam. It was Easter 1992 and Stacey was in Aunty Marie’s class. She had explained to her class the Easter story and along with it a simple explanation of the Gospel. After it, Stacey prayed with her and asked Jesus into her heart. Stacey was only 4 and a bit. The impact of that event has been lasting. May was so touched when I told her Stacey is some of her ‘fruit’. She was encouraged.
#490 of my 1000 thanks is for May Raphael and Aunty Marie who have faithfully served in our little neck of the woods, by faith and not knowing the enormous impact they have had over the three decades they have been there. What a blessing to our community.
2 Peter 1:3
His divine power has given us everything we need for a godly life through our knowledge of Him who called us by His own glory and goodness.
These are the days.
Keep the smile going.
God bless you!
In His Grip,
