The Alarm Went Off

Sunday

Dear Elsie

Today was the day I didn’t get dressed. I stayed in my pajamas the entire day. Shortly, I will go and shower and then get back into clean pajamas and climb into bed. A storm is brewing.

Last night we went to Peter and Riana for dinner. When we got back the guests in the cottage were packing up after braaiing. All was well. They just said they were really tired. It wasn’t particularly late – close to 8pm. I went home and popped in to see David. It was then that a very loud house alarm started going off. It wasn’t one of the regular ones and I was curious as to who it belonged to. I went out on the balcony to try to distinguish where it was coming from. I couldn’t decide. Eventually, as it was still blaring and about 10 minutes had passed, I went down to the road to investigate. To my astonishment, it was our cottage alarm that was blaring! It has not gone off since pre-Covid. I phoned the guests. The wife answered the phone (I was right outside the door) and tried to trouble shoot over the phone. With no success, she let me in I tried turning it off at the key pad. That didn’t work. I opened the one cupboard thinking I could pull a plug, but that didn’t have what I needed, so eventually, I crawled on the floor by a bank of plugs and turned off the main switch. Relief! The blaring stopped. I turned it back on again and then pulled out the plug that wasn’t the bedside light. I was so shocked. The guest was very forgiving. I left and (somewhat shattered) went back upstairs. I can’t believe the alarm is still working. I’m so glad it didn’t decide to go off at 2 in the morning. That would have been so bad. At least when the guests leave tomorrow, I can send Mike in there to sort it out.

Last night I hopped into bed and Claw’d and Raiku joined me. Claw’d is the “cleaner” of the two cats & he manages feline personal hygiene.

Raiku just lies there and enjoys the spa.

I’ve had a very restful weekend, despite doing some work and I’m now ready for that hot shower & clean pajamas!

Psalm 145:5
They speak of the glorious splendor of your majesty— and I will meditate on your wonderful works

It’s not about now – we are only passing through.

Keep the smile going.

God bless you.

In His Grip,

Gran xx 🙂
