Teachers On My Mind

My freelance journey has bought me to teacher recruitment which I am enjoying very much. It certainly has given me insight into teaching in South Africa and the great variation in qualifications. Currently the company for whom I am freelancing is Edvectus – a unique teacher recruitment company based in the UK.

They are one of the few recruitment companies selected to recruit teachers for the Abu Dhabi Government School system (ADEC). ADEC pays extremely well, especially for South Africans. Salaries are tax free (From about R600 000 per annum). Flights are paid for and accommodation & health care are covered for the duration of the 2 year contract. There’s certainly quite a saving to be had. On advertising the post, we have had loads of applications and that’s where the interesting dynamic comes in. Going through all these CVs I’m seeing a lot of teachers who are only partially qualified, or are qualified for one thing and teaching another. With the ADEC system, the teacher must be doing what they are trained to do.

ADEC’s requirements are very clear-cut. They need degreed, qualified South African teachers who are younger than 57 and who have a minimum of 2 recent years in the area for which they trained. These are the options.

Spread the word about these posts. You  can click on the links for each position to view the jobs online or you can read more about the opportunity here.

The requirements are all listed. All that you need to know is there. If you qualify, apply online (the link is on the job post). I’ll end up getting your CV once it’s travelled through the London based recruitment centre. This project is keeping me very very busy! 🙂 If you are qualified in some other area, such as Phys Ed or Music, or Geography etc, look online for other posts. ADEC does not have them right now.

Nothing beats living in Cape Town, but a 2 year stint of overseas teaching may just be the way to assist your financial health.

Acts 20:35

In everything I did, I showed you that by this kind of hard work we must help the weak, remembering the words the Lord Jesus himself said: ‘It is more blessed to give than to receive.’

We get so that we can give.

Good to remember.

Keep the smile going.

God bless you!

In His Grip,

Helga xx 🙂
