Tea and Faith

It was a good conversation we had this afternoon. David arrived. Mike arrived home from hitting golf balls and we sat and had tea and a chat about faith.

The truth be told, a lot of people have been hurt by others who claim to be Christians. It is quite destructive. But ultimately, if we are going to live lives to the full, we need to focus on, not what others have done but on what God has done for us. The story of Jesus Christ coming as the ultimate hero into the world to save the lost is a compelling narrative and one that is wonderful to believe.

Having solved the faith issues of the world, we have now gone our different ways – David is watching the cricket. Mike is doing a bit of work and I’m upstairs writing this blog.

With Julian in town, this morning we met for breakfast. On coming home, I did a couple of hours work before gym. Then at 3pm, Julian and I went to meet Riana for tea at Ellie’s Deli in Noordhoek. With the sun shining and the sky blue and not too much wind at all, we sat outside.

One of the unexpected things about gym is I get to meet new people. There is D who swims. She swam competitively from age 7 to 18. Forty years on, she’s back in the pool swimming 30 lengths once a week. You can see she is a swimmer. She has such a nice style and like about 98% of the women who enter the pool, she is a lot faster than me. I am having to be very patient. The novelty of swimming has not worn off. Right now though, it’s a lot of hard work. I’m glad to say that my shoulders are beginning to improve. They are not quite as stiff as they were.

Then there is O. He is a young married guy who has arrived from the UK for three months. He and his wife have two young children. They are here to decide if Cape Town is a place they may want to settle in.  So interesting hearing about his life.

Julian will arrive shortly and we are going walking, so I had better get ready.

#555 of my 1000 thanks is for the wonderful smell of freshly ground coffee in the morning. I love it.

We are in a drought. But through it all, we can thrive.

Isaiah 58:11

The Lord will guide you always; He will satisfy your needs in a sun-scorched land and will strengthen your frame. You will be like a well-watered garden, like a spring whose waters never fail.

These are the days.

Keep the smile going.

God bless you.

In His Grip,

Helga xx 🙂
