Swim & Hike

Saturday

Dear Elsie

Today was the day I had both a swim and a hike. I also had a call with you and you showed me your running skills! We had a good chat.

We weren’t going to go to the beach today because we’ve done 5 swims this week & we were planning a hike this afternoon. We decided we would go in case we didn’t do the afternoon walk. In the end we did both. There was a lot of activity going on at the beach. The Trek fishermen were pulling in their nets; kayakers were paddling; surf-skiers were too; the shark-spotters were busy putting out the net; people were swimming and amidst it all, there was a baptism going on! The sun was shining, the wind from the north and the sea very flat. It’s no wonder it was so busy.

We came home and had a leisurely rest of day. We welcomed a couple of Dutch girls who spoke excellent English. They said they would be here at 2:30pm so I was downstairs waiting for them. I don’t mind the wait. I sat in the shade, but by 3pm, when they hadn’t arrived, I went back up. I knew they didn’t have WIFI so figured they must have been delayed. Then I got a text message to say they were in Kalk Bay. They had selected the wrong area with the same address and gone all the way there. Oops!

They soon arrived and all was well. I’m glad I didn’t get a call when they were standing outside the gate above!

At 5pm, we went off to walk up Trappieskop and then walk along the firebreak between Clovelly and Kalk Bay back to the car.

Going up Trappieskop…

View from the firebreak…

Back into Kalk Bay…

We went slowly and took our time. It was 3.5km and took us 2 hours. It’s not too strenuous. We really enjoyed it.

We picked up pizza on the way home and now I’m ready for bed.

Psalm 21:13
Be exalted in your strength, Lord; we will sing and praise your might.

The best is yet to come – we are only passing through.

Keep the smile going.

God bless you.

In His Grip,

Gran xx 🙂
