Today, we discovered an unexpected coffee corner in Hout Bay. The Hout Bay Coffee shop and roastery. Julian and I took a late morning drive from Fish Hoek towards Simon’s Town. With no particular destination in mind, we turned up Red Hill and on this spectacular autumn day, we stopped to admire a wind free, perfectly calm view of Simon’s Town from the Red Hill Road….
We then drove and talked and drove and talked and eventually found ourselves winding along Chapman’s Peak drive to Hout Bay. Planning to return the same way due to time constraints, we pulled randomly in at the Pick n Pay Centre and found a parking spot immediately on the right. Exactly opposite where we parked, we saw this sign…
After browsing through the antique shop next door, we ventured through the entrance and found ourselves stepping into what could be a tiny piece of Italy…
Rustic and immersed in the aroma of brewing coffee, we set about ordering a cappuccino…
It was strong but delicious – their own blend called Bean Mugged. I took home a kilogram of it. Hopefully, Mike will approve…
Buzzing with a caffeine boost of note, we returned home. Another spectacular day in the Mother City, which rose, once more to surprise us with a special treat in a seldom visited nook. If we ever pass that way, I will be sure to stop in and visit again.
I have had on my mind over the last couple of days something that I blogged about a couple of weeks ago – all about me trying to make my dreams the plans I give to God for me. He knows the plans He has for me. I don’t, so I try give Him ideas of the plans I think He should have for me!
The outcome of this dilemma of trying to make my plans God’s plans ends in a cul de sac of surrender. I can go no further. I need to just stop my plans and open my heart and head, my mind and soul and surrender all I have to Him as Lord of my life.
This morning we visited the Fish Hoek Methodist Church and we sang the Spirit Song. The words of the first verse struck a chord with me…
“Oh, let the Son of God enfold you with His Spirit and His love; Let Him fill your heart and satisfy your soul. Oh, let Him have the things that hold you, and His Spirit, like a dove, Will descend upon your life and make you whole.”
You can hear it here:
Surrender.
Isaiah 64:8
But now, O LORD, You are our Father, We are the clay, and You our potter; And all of us are the work of Your hand.
These are the days!
Keep the smile going.
God bless you.
In His Grip,
Helga xx 🙂
