Something’s Burning

1-47pm

We first noticed smoke at just before 1pm. Great billows of grey cloud wafting out to sea. From our bedroom balcony, it looked like this…

Somethings burningSince then there has been an ongoing stream of emergency vehicles and several fire engines racing to bring it under control and assist anyone caught in the blaze. A helicopter joined the fray, although why, I’m not sure. They didn’t seem to be dropping water on the fire. It seems to be under control now. It seemed to be the lower reaches of Masiphumulele. I hope not too many homes have been lost. John Doyle went to see if his friends are okay. He posted this photo on Facebook…

Fire in MasiDevastating. Please pray and if you can help, donate.

We have had two stunning days in Cape Town. This is such a spectacular city. You don’t need to go far to find an amazing view. We have the mountains and the sea and beautiful beaches. It doesn’t matter where you live, you get to enjoy the extravagant scenery. This morning, I asked people to sms into the show telling me what their view was like. It was such fun to hear from people who look over the harbour and of those with majestic mountains overlooking their homes. There were city views, street views and panoramic views of the sea. Come to Cape Town for the best African experience ever!

Today has been ‘chilled’.  I did some work on my “Making Marriage Work” series. They are going to be short audio editions on a whole lot of topics relating to marriage.  I’ve written about 12 and need 21. Then I will record them and they will start appearing under the section “Making Marriage Work.” I had tea with friends and then did some shopping, before coming home.

When we were in Ladismith last week, Tori sent us home with lemons and pomegranates. Just look at this amazing colour…

PomegranatePomegranates were a sign of fruitfulness.  Deuterenomy 8:7-8.

For the Lord your God is bringing you into a good land – a land with brooks, streams, and deep springs gushing out into the valleys and hills; a land with wheat and barley, vines and fig-trees, pomegranates, olive oil and honey”

Look out for them. They are high in vitamin B and C, so perfect for winter. The juice is sweet and the seeds can be added to salad, yoghurt, sprinkled on soup or added to meat dishes. They are so versatile and add a splash of colour. Thanks Tori!

It’s fish night out for Mike & I. My brother arrives tonight for the weekend.

God bless you loads.

In His Grip,

Helga xx 🙂
