Wednesday 23rd December 2020
Today was a red-letter day. The solar is up and running. Mike will add, ‘after a fashion’ but the fact that I have a cake in the oven and am typing this and we are not using Eskom electricity means that it is working and working well!
The reason why it is such a red-letter day is because it brings to an end the crazy project Mike took on more than a year ago when he decided to do the electrics for the new build. It was all the electric cabling and the solar. The wiring was complete by the time we moved in. Today, the solar is done. Yes, there may be some tweaking but over all, it is up & running! Mike expedited the turning on when the Cape Town south peninsula had a massive outage last night. He and David went into the plant room and Mike turned over from Eskom to Solar and it worked!
The journey has been a long one with a steep learning curve. We worked our way up from the lower ground floor. This was Mike putting in the very first plugs. I remember this day..11th November 2019
Our first plug point…boy there were many of those still to come.
Mike finishing off the first of the electrical work. This is the basement.
The first floor was more complicated…Courage came to help us for the first time on this day…10th December 2019
This is our floor which was the craziest…this was 16th February 2020. Courage couldn’t help because he was running a marathon.
And just before lock down, we managed to scramble to get the top floor done
But once all the cabling was laid, it had to be connected, through walls and down walls. It was a mammoth task. Mike, with the help of Courage did it all.
Today his final goal of doing the electrics and connecting them to 27 solar panels on the roof came to fruition. The power room – all up and running
He is happy and I couldn’t be prouder!
I’ve got to wrap this up as I’m about to leave for the airport to pick up Julian, Jess and Gerrie!

1 John 3:1
What great love the Father has lavished on us, that we should be called children of God! And that is what we are!
The best is yet to come.
Keep the smile going.
God bless you.
In His Grip,
