Small Steps

Yesterday Mike had a number of things to do OTM (Over-The-Mountain) so he took his golf clubs with him and had some fun at the LONG driving range. On the way home, he stopped by the South Peninsula Municipality to find out the zoning rights for the land that we had cleared a few weeks ago. He came back with plenty of good news/ bad news stories.

Good news bad news

The good news is that we can build a second dwelling on the plot. That was great news! The bad news is that it will cost R18 000 for the privilege. WHAT!?

The good news is that if we wait until August that fee could be lifted. Oh Great! The bad news is that it takes many, many months to get the approval for the second dwelling to be built. Oh dear.

The good news is that if we put the plans in first, it will push them to get approval. The bad news is the plans must only be put in after August so the R18 000 fee doesn’t apply.

And that was where it ended.

I have no illusions that this is going to be an easy task. In fact, quite the opposite. It is my expectation that it is going to take a very long time to get a building up on the mountainside behind a building that is already there. It is going to be a mammoth job, in fact. And there-in lies some more good news! We have time to earn and save, so this ‘Building a house on a mountainside’ project doesn’t completely bankrupt us!

There are going to be many little steps in the process and perhaps a number of giant leaps, but they won’t be for a while. Who knows how long it will take, but I am determined to set the steps before the Lord and let Him direct the path.

The first couple of little steps – we have cleared the land. We had found out about the zoning.

Mike is now going to start the design.

Little steps.

Zechariah 4:10 always comes to mind…

Do not despise these small beginnings, for the Lord rejoices to see the work begin….

I pray for the Lord’s will to be done.

Meantime, today has bought with it beautiful sunshine and a cool breeze. It is my intention for Julian (here for the long weekend)  and I to go walking across the mountain today. So I’ll wrap up this blog and then have one more to write on the Maldives and my work for the day will be complete. 🙂

These are the days. I will appreciate each one.

Keep the smile going.

God bless you!

In His Grip,

Helga xx 🙂
