12-53
So this is my final weekday of rising late and LATE it was! I checked on Granny & gave her breakfast in bed, made coffee and headed back to bed myself. When I looked again it was 10-30am!!
Back to Rise and Shine on Monday! π Yay!!
One of the things I did this morning was plan the next couple of weeks! “Uncle Peter” is coming to Cape Town. My Dad passed away in 2008 and Peter was his oldest friend. His wife passed away last year and we invited him to visit us from his home in Somerset, England. He arrives on Sunday. I made a list of 10 places he may want to visit! After 10-30am, I got up, checked on Granny, put washing in the machine, did dishes and then got carried away with the puzzle….which is making good progress…
But this takes time! πΒ Mike phoned and jolted me into the realisation that I must put the washing on the line and get Granny out of bed. David arrived. Granny got showered. Then it was lunchtime & she’s now had lunch. My bed is made. Floors need to be swept and shopping done. David has gone to do some stuff and when he gets back, I’ll head for the mall and do the shopping. I am feeling incredibly relaxed and refreshed.
I haven’t done my Bible reading for today, yet, but in yesterday’s reading, Genesis 7:1 jumped out at me:
“Then the Lord said to Noah, “Go into the ark, you and your whole family, because I have found you righteous in this generation.”
Those words are powerful and pertinent. As someone who has faith in Christ, they are words I want to hear. I want God to say to me, “Helga, I have found you righteous in this generation.”
What does this mean? For our generation, we have to press ‘fast forward’ in the Bible, through the Old Testament, where this verse is found to the New Testament.
Romans 1:17 “For in the gospel a righteousness from God is revealed, a righteousness that is by faith from first to last..”
andΒ in Romans 3:23-24, “For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, and all are justified freely by His grace through the redemption that came by Christ Jesus.”
We have fallen short of what God requires of us. But we need not continue living a life of striving to reach an unreachable goal of perfection. Instead, by faith, we believe Jesus died for our sin, so we can be justified by His grace.
The automatic outcome of that belief is a change in us – we become clothed in God’s righteousness. When that happens, our behaviour changes – we seek to live as God would have us live. Not that we are ever going to be perfect, or are never going to sin again, but rather we are enveloped in God’s grace through Jesus Christ. Dependent on Christ, we are found righteous in this generation.
Onward!
In His Grip,
