Save 47 Minutes

After I posted yesterday’s blog about spending 52 minutes getting a car license at the Fish Hoek traffic department, Lenore’s Joe sent me a message asking why I don’t do it online. While sitting in the queue I read I could do it online, but had never thought of it before. I’ve looked up the information and post it here to save you at least 47 minutes of queuing at the traffic department. I took this from their website

Online Vehicle Licencing

You can pay vehicle licence fees online through an electronic funds transfer (EFT). Follow these three easy steps:

  • Complete the City of Cape Town’s individual or business online forms, then click submit.
  • You will receive an e-mail with a unique number confirming the amount due, followed by a reference number and the banking details for payment.
  • Once you have this, pay your licence fees electronically from your banking website.

Note: This online payment facility is for vehicle licences only and should not be used for the payment of rates, traffic fines and other municipal accounts.

Remember to use the reference number listed on the e-mail and not the unique number to complete the payment. For more information, contact the City of Cape Town Call Centre on 0860 103 089.

Thanks Lenore’s Joe, I’ll be making sure I do that next time!

In our ongoing attempt to save water, today I went outside in the sunshine and ran the rainwater from the tank over my hair and washed it that way. It takes 20 litres of water to wash my hair. I fill up a bucket every time I do, so I thought it would be good to use rain water instead of drinking water. If I do this every time I wash my hair, I could save about 240 litres of water a month.

The sun has been shining and the sky blue today. I started the day with a 54 minute walk, worked for a bit, had a relaxing late breakfast with Mike and then worked until lunchtime.

This afternoon, I’ve had a haircut, done some shopping and helped Mike with his Technology Today programme.

(#296 of my 1000 thanks is for the HAIRCUT!! Feels so much better!)

One of the crazy things I have been doing (again) recently is revisiting www.sporcle.com where I am refreshing my memory in learning every country of the world. I’ve pretty much got the most of the continents memorized. Probably the most unfamiliar is Oceania. I know Australia & New Zealand, but it’s all the islands in the Pacific that I have to memorize. I made a sentence to try and remember them:

Please find someone to say ‘please make me nice kite today.’

I have to memorize the sentence in order to remember what it stands for! Let me try:

  • Papua New Guinea
  • Fiji
  • Solomon Islands
  • Tuvalu
  • Samoa
  • Palau
  • Marshall Islands
  • Micronesia
  • Nauru
  • Kiribati
  • Tonga

The reason why I’m thinking about it is because I wrote the silly sentence on a scrap of paper on my desk and my eye keeps falling on it. This surely will be another way for me to remember them.

Remembering the countries of the world is great for the brain, but I have to admit that it would be more profitable to memorize the Bible.

Matthew 24:35

Heaven and earth will pass away, but my words will never pass away.

It’s worth pondering and memorizing words that have eternal significance.

These are the days!

Keep the smile going.

God bless you!

In His Grip,

Helga xx 🙂
