Rest Day – Underscored by a Terrible Tragedy

While today has been a day of rest, my heart has been sore for the family of a young man from Fish Hoek who died in a car accident yesterday.  He was in the US and was driving with his wife, whom he married only on Friday. Austin Wesson grew up in Cape Town and came from generations of Christ-followers. His grandparents were well known in Christian circles in Zimbabwe, with his Grandfather, Errol Wesson authoring an inspirational booklet which I still have on my shelf…

Austin was an ardent Christian and there is no doubt that he is now celebrating in heaven.  While it is wonderful that we have that hope, the emotional pain and is overwhelming and I am heartsick for his family and his wife who has been seriously injured. Her mother posted this on Facebook…

Please pray for Rebekah as well as the Wesson and Bouma families.

1 Thessalonians 4:13

Dear brothers and sisters, we want you to know what will happen to the believers who have died so you will not grieve like people who have no hope.

#380 of my 1000 thanks – we do not grieve without hope. God is sovereign. He doesn’t make mistakes and He doesn’t waste pain.

Life is fragile. It can change in a second.  We must enjoy each moment that God gives us on this earth. I know that the one to come is going to be awesome. God has given us this one for a season. It’s the dichotomy of grief and joy. We grieve because it’s so sad and tragic. We rejoice because we are not without hope. We will see our loved ones again.

These are the days.

Keep the smile going.

God bless you.

In His Grip,

Helga xx
