Rainy Durban

Tuesday

Dear Elsie

Today was the day we arrived in Durban. It was a rainy day.

It’s not often we’ve been on the ship with so much rain. It poured down for quite a while. Amidst it all, we were so surprised to see the pilot from Durban harbour who came to bring the ship in arrived by helicopter! This was quite a sight.

We disembarked mid-morning. I took a photo of where our cabin is on the ship. Cabin 9202. It was the one on the right of ours that had the balcony glass shattered. That got repaired as soon as we arrived in Seychelles.

We went walking through to Marine World and took a stroll along the pier. There was light rain but it didn’t deter us.

We had coffee at a specialised coffee shop and marvelled at how inexpensive everything is, compared to Europe! We enjoyed the friendliness of the waitresses too. We also found a really nice little clothing shop and I bought a few things. Then we walked back to the port. I commented that if we missed the ship, we could stay here!

The view from our cabin is of the new terminal building…

This makes the entrance to Durban much better. It’s walking distance to Marine World, the beach and Esplanade and altogether looks much better than the previous docking spot.

Now two massive tankers have arrived and the ship is being refuelled.

We are due to ship on out at 6pm. Next stop Cape Town! It has been wonderful not having to get off here and fly home. It’s a good way to slowly adjust to coming home and the end of what has been an amazing 40 night bonanza holiday. Today as I sat in the Pasha Lounge I was again filled with appreciation. So blessed to have been able to do this.

The internet is hanging by a thread, but I have managed to get this done by using my cell phone as a hot spot. If there’s no blog tomorrow or Thursday, it’s because the internet is completely down. If that’s the case, I’ll write them but only upload them when we arrive home. Somehow, over the last few days, it’s hung in there, so I’m expecting the same in the days ahead. See you soon Family. I love you!

Habakkuk 2:14
For the earth will be filled with the knowledge of the glory of the Lord as the waters cover the sea.

The best is yet to come – we are only passing through.

Keep the smile going.

God bless you.

In His Grip,

Gran xx 🙂
