Edging Towards Home

Wednesday

Dear Elsie

Today is the day we are edging closer to home.

These two days of cruising idly down the South African coast are perfect for adjusting to getting home. We spent most of 2022 knowing this trip was coming – working towards everything to do with it. Planning getting to Italy, getting around Italy, getting to Venice, getting on the ship and then what we would do on each leg.

And now it’s almost over and with it, the year 2022.

So today we had a 4 mile walk around the deck – mile because the walking track is in miles.

We did 14 laps, stopped for water and then walked another 14 laps. The track goes over this bridge in the middle which marks the start of the next lap…you can see a bit of land in the background – we are now passing quite close to Port Elizabeth (Gqeberha).

Big breakfast followed. After a leisurely coffee, we went back to our cabin and rested. In fact, I slept! It was wonderful. One of the things about the internet being extremely slow is I can’t work.  I can somehow get the blog written which immediately comes up because it’s cached. The company I work for is winding down for the year so everything is pretty quiet. I’ll be working til the end of the year but it will be part time and not too much expected.

The TV has now come to life and we have DSTV so we got to watch Trevor Noah who had us laughing. Then we went and got some tea before strolling the deck again. There was a dance class on. Top deck of our floating hotel.

Right now I’m starving – breakfast ended at about 11am and dinner is in 20 minutes, so time to get ready.

As the hours slip by, I’m getting excited about getting home, but today I have already said, ‘today’s the first day of a 2-night getaway!’ We are enjoying each moment.

Genesis 1:2
The earth was formless and void, and darkness was over the surface of the deep, and the Spirit of God was moving over the surface of the waters.

The best is yet to come – we are only passing through.

Keep the smile going.

God bless you.

In His Grip

Gran, xx 🙂
