Railway Tracks on Fish Hoek Beach

Monday

Today was the day…

Venus was again very visible in the morning sky. We saw the new moon rising. It was amazing. Just a sliver of moon spotted early in the morning just before sunrise. When the moon is new or full the tides tend to be super high and super low. Today something really strange happened during high tide at Fish Hoek beach – down the Clovelly side. The strong high tide pushed an enormous amount of sand towards the dune, creating a wall of sand and unearthing old railway lines that the Railway company put in back in 1929. Fish Hoek Valley museum was quickly referred to and came up with the history.

They also posted this historic photo…

The tide waits for no man and later in the day it was high again and the tracks were underwater. It’s going to be interesting to see if they get swallowed up by ocean bed again. If I ever swim that side, I’ll be more weary of what is beneath.

The sea around Cape Town has been strange since the Tonga volcano erupted. At first, I didn’t think there could be any association, but I read online that that volcano eruption was 500 times more powerful than the Hiroshima bombing. Could it be possible that the huge waves off our coast a couple of weeks ago were as a result? Who knows!

One thing about this evening is the sun is turning the clouds into huge majestic puffs of pink and golden candifloss! My cell phone camera doesn’t do justice to the changing beauty…this was just before 8pm..

So early today, we finished cleaning the cottage for tomorrow’s guests. They arrive from the UK tomorrow morning and are here for 2 weeks.

I worked for 6 hours.

Last day of January 2022.

You don’t understand now what I am doing, but someday you will.

Great reminder.

The best is yet to come – we are only passing through.

Keep the smile going.

God bless you.

In His Grip,

Helga xx 🙂
