Saturday
Today was the day…
We slept late and then walked to Fish Hoek for some groceries. We got caught in the rain going down, so we took refuge at Sunny Cove station while the shower passed…
We only left for Fish Hoek around 10am, having had coffee but not breakfast. We went to buy bacon so we could have a cooked breakfast but ended up browsing through the second hand shops. By the time we headed home, it was coming up to 12noon. Two things happened. Firstly, I was getting really hangry. I was irritable because I was hungry. Secondly, another shower swept through. On the way home, we took refuge at one of the cat walk subways…
We also passed a wind-surfer who had capsized and was paddling back to shore…not far to go…he looked big and strong.
With the rain easing, we headed up the hill to Echo. This is where Mike and I differ. He takes his time, strolling gently up the hill. I just want to get it over and done with so I go as fast as I can. He gave me the house key and I took off as fast as I could. I got up the hill and onto Echo Rd and was about half of the way along when suddenly a car flew past me. It was David! What? He doesn’t usually drive that fast and he always stops and greets and exchanges a few words. Then I noticed he had someone with him, so I though, “Ah, he’s got someone with him. That’s why he didn’t stop!” Then I realised that someone was Mike! David had picked Mike up while he was still on the hill. I laughed out loud. It was a case of the Tortoise and the Hare, only the Tortoise won because the Kangaroo picked him up! David had suggest to Mike he stop for me as well and Mike had said, “No, go faster!” I arrived as they were at the gate and we all walked up the stairs together with David explaining why they hadn’t stopped! Ha ha!
Breakfast was great!
I’ve just seen something splashing in the sea. I went outside onto the balcony with the binoculars to take a closer look. Twas a seal having caught its dinner and it was thrashing it about. Three hungry seagulls were eagerly circling hoping magically the fish may jump into the air and be snapped up by one of them. No such luck though. The seal won the day and disappeared to enjoy a sit down meal. Pixabay!
Even though it’s been an overcast and showery kind of day, there has been a yacht in the bay, a small fishing boat, divers and a proper rowing canoe. The canoeists did a few laps, from Glencairn to Fish Hoek and back again. It’s looking quite ominous now. More rain on the way.
Isaiah 48:17
This is what the Lord says, “I am the Lord your God, who leads you along the paths you should follow.”
The best is yet to come – we are only passing through.
Keep the smile going.
God bless you.
In His Grip,
Helga xx 🙂
