There are a couple of things that have happened over the last few weeks. The first is that I have a little more free time with work having slowed down. With Christmas coming, I want to be organised. This has led me to feel like spring cleaning – which is so cathartic, it’s wonderful.
The other thing that is happening is that I will hit the road running when January arrives. Work is going to pick up again and I will be going full steam ahead for a few months. I just feel that to be most efficient, I need to get organised. It’s the best way to prepare for 2017.
So, cleaning up, tidying up, sorting out and organising is the order of the day. I want to file stuff, arrange financial records in order, scan documents so they can be stored in the cloud and just order my life. There is a comfort to order and I’m intent on getting there.
So this is what I’ve done/am planning to do:
- Got my white board organised, so a quick glance can give me some direction.
- Transferred the details of my white board onto a shared online spreadsheet so others can also view it and have access to useful information.
- Filing – the main filing I have to do pertains to my personal finances. All those little slips of paper need to be categorised and filed. It probably would be good to also scan them and put them in the cloud as well.
- Order my work-space. I have some ‘old clutter’ that needs to be sorted. My little office space is only about 12m2 but it has a LOT of stuff in it. I need to clean it all out. That would be really helpful. As I sit here typing, I’m looking around and seeing stuff that needs to go. That right there is probably 12 hours work!
- 2017 is going to be the year the inside of the house gets painted, so we need to go through the entire house, clean out and clear out, so that we can paint. Because we have been in this house since 1989, we haven’t had the advantage of moving. When you move, you clean out a lot of rubbish. We have to pretend we are moving!
- Working ahead – one of the most helpful things I try and do is work ahead. I try to get everything that needs to be done, done ahead of time, so that I am more organised. I don’t always get this right, but when I do, it’s great!
Having a plan works for me. One my biggest annual plans is reading through the Bible. I have a ‘read the Bible in a year’ Bible. I just love it. 2016 marks the 10th year I have read through the Bible in a year. What always surprises me is that I always find something new, something I don’t seemed to have noticed before. The Bible keeps me focused on doing what is right and living in obedience to God. He did not give us His Word to make our lives harder. He gave us His Word for our own benefit. And each day of each year, I enjoy those benefits.
Today I was reminded from Micah in the Old Testament that the only way to know peace is to know Jesus. He prophesies the coming of Christ…
Micah 5:5
And He will be their peace
I’ve found that…when trouble comes, and it will, and there is turmoil and anxiety, somehow when I pray and turn it all over to God, I get that peace.
He is my peace.
#132 of my 1000 thanks is the peace of God. It is a gift.
These are the days!
Keep the smile going.
God bless you!
In His Grip,
Helga xx 🙂
