Peter’s Arrival…

2-50pm

So today, “Uncle” Peter arrived. I am not sure if I have told you how he fits into my life. When I was about 5 or 6, he and his wife, Diane were close friends of my parents. Despite the fracture of social life in Zimbabwe, Peter remained a life long friend of my late Dad. After my Dad’s death in 2008, I got in contact with Peter and Diane. Diane passed away last year and, thinking Peter could do with a break from the British winter, I invited him to Cape Town. As I was a young child when I knew Peter and Diane, of course I knew them as Uncle Peter and Aunty Diane. He doesn’t really want me calling him Uncle any more!  This morning, I tracked his flight on the internet…amazing what you can do these days…

Peters flight pathHe arrived as scheduled and we have had a light lunch. After 4pm, I’ll take him for a drive & for the next two weeks, I will be hitting most of the historic tourist spots in Cape Town.  You can expect touristy kind of photos to appear on my blog!

Last night, Mike fried up a delicious steak and we enjoyed it on the balcony of our bedroom. This was the ‘dinner view’…

This morning, before leaving for the airport, I did my Bible reading. If you haven’t started ‘reading through the Bible in a year’ , it’s not too late. You may have to read an hour or so to catch up. Download the reading plan from this website: http://www.ewordtoday.com/year/

There is much to be learnt and many principles by which to live. Genesis 15:6:

Abram believed the Lord and He credited it to him as righteousness.

All of us are on a journey. Some are right at the start of the journey – some a little way along. In the big scheme of things, Abram was right at the start. In his journey, he had already made mistakes. He had gone to Egypt when there was a famine and on entering the land, he stated the beautiful Sarai was his sister and not his wife. That got him into trouble, but eventually he landed back on his feet. After he got out of Egypt, Abram did a significant, life-changing thing. Genesis 13:4 says, “Abram called on the Lord.” That acknowledgement set off a life of significance for Abram and all his descendants. God appeared to him and promised him many things. And Abram believed God. Even though Abram did believe God, he had doubts. In Genesis 15:8, Abram asks God, “Oh Sovereign Lord, how can I know?”

You may be asking the same thing. Respond the same way Abram responded…

~ Believe God – don’t ever stop believing God, regardless of what happens in your life.

~ Keep dialogue open. God knows you. He knows about your doubt. Don’t be afraid to ask Him about His promises.

You are in His Grip!

Oh yeah!

God bless!

Helga xx 🙂
