Painful Passport Paperwork…

2-59pm

I’m trying to renew my British passport which expires next week. Ten years ago when I had to do it, I walked into the British Consulate, with my forms and photos and old passport and paid the fee over the counter. 4 weeks later, I collected my new passport. Now, you cannot do that regardless of where you are in the country. You can only do it by mail. To get the forms you have to google your way to the website, print them out along with the notes and hope you’ve done the right thing….

I’m so grateful that I’ve already got a British passport and am am only renewing! The terminology eg: ” ... or if you became a British citizen, British Dependent/Overseas Territories citizen, British Overseas citizen, British subject or British protected person by naturalisation or registration on or after that date either through the Home Office in the United Kingdom or through the Governor’s Office of a British Overseas Territory.” And that wasn’t even the whole sentence! You cannot phone anyone either…if you want to phone you have to phone the UK and pay 72p (+ R7-20) a minute!

They do have an email address so I’ve emailed them on two of their questions. It’s not a cheap little exercise, getting a new Brit passport – the fee is non refundable…

Their automatic response email said it would take 10 days for them to reply. I can wait, or I’ll ask my brother! He should know!

Philippians 3:20 says “But our citizenship is in heaven. And we eagerly await a Saviour from there, the Lord Jesus Christ.”

Our passport to heaven….“That if you confess with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord,” and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.” Romans 10:9)

It’s been a beautiful cloudy day….

I’m remembering my older brother Arnold today. He would have been 52. Love you and think of you often! xx

I’m parched! Tea-time.

God bless you loads!

In His Grip!

Helga xx 🙂
