Thursday
Today was the day…
The penultimate day of 2021. It was the day I took all our Christmas decorations down and packed up Christmas.
We debated about going to the beach this morning. It looked quite overcast and the sun stuck firmly behind thick cloud. Then it came out. Then it went back again. Then some blue sky appeared in the north. We decided to go and as we were late, the net was in the trailer on the beach and the inflatable was about to go to drag it out to its onshore anchor along the cat walk. I got 2km of swimming in. The water was a little chilly but I took a jersey for afterwards, so recovered quickly.
Mike did some programming today. I cleaned the kitchen and mopped the balcony. The birds have made a bit of a mess under the bottle. They have gone through an entire bottle of sugar water today. I filled it up this morning and now it has the dregs and is just about empty. I could put less sugar in and reduce the number of long-tailed sugar birds. The bulbuls and white-eyes don’t mind a little less sugar. The sugar birds are thirsty guzzlers and take big gulps, and there are always lots of them.
Later, the clouds lifted and the sun shone brightly. Our Little Lookout guests said they had gone to climb Table Mountain (up Skeleton Gorge). When they got to the top it was cold and miserable – including rain. They were disappointed with that. I directed them up Elsie’s Peak which they said they may do today still. That’s youthful energy for you.
Mike and I walked to Fish Hoek. Lots of people on the beach by then, swimming and enjoying the sunshine. Home now and dinner awaits.
Acts 20:32
I commend you to God and to the word of His grace, which is able to build you up and to give you the inheritance among all those who are sanctified.
The best is yet to come – we are only passing through.
Keep the smile going.
God bless you.
In His Grip,
Helga xx 🙂
