After standing on our balcony at midnight watching a few colourful fireworks light up the distant sky, I pondered the year ahead. I know it’s going to be a busy one. Trying to slow down the clock and enjoy each day of each week is going to be the goal.
It is out with the Old and in with the New. My 2018 diary will be shelved and 2019 will sit on my desk.
We woke up around about 6am and did not head for the beach. Instead, we had coffee and our quiet time and around 8-30am went off to exercise. Mike went for an outdoor run. I went to gym.
The rest of the day was spent ‘at ease!’ Last official day of leave for me. I dared to go and peak at the general inbox I am responsible for emptying. 850 emails so far. I am grateful there are not more! It’s common to get 100 a day and I’ve been off for 11 days. My own inbox has about 20. I’ll sit down tomorrow morning and start with the most important and methodically work my way through them. It may take a few days but they will get done. This is what I’m good at. 🙂
I also did some unusual Sudokus. I don’t like putting in little numbers, preferring to rely on my (often not so good) memory. I just could NOT get this one solved…it’s a six by six Sudoku with two diagonals as well which also need 1-6 in them. I found the 1s and the 6s, but couldn’t solve it in the traditional way.
As it was only 6×6, I made three copies and guessed various answers. Yeah! I got it right in the end. Now you try!
1/1/2019 for Julian will always be remembered as the day he went half way round the world.
He is now in Dubai and has one more leg home. He arrives in Johannesburg tomorrow and comes to Cape Town on Thursday. 😀
Yesterday we spent two hours with our builder, Werner, talking about our expectations for the build. He left us with a set of the plans and homework to mark the double-glazed windows, all the plug points, where we want the lights and where we want the light switches. Mike and I hard at work….
Major praise point for today is news that Kiara woke up. You can read the latest account here. It is beautiful.
In my new diary to introduce January is a prayer by St. Francis of Assisi.
2 Corinthians 6:18
I will be a Father to you, and you shall be My sons and daughters, says the Lord Almighty.
Amen!
These are the days.
Keep the smile going.
God bless you.
In His Grip,
Helga xx 🙂

- 65 minutes on the treadmill. I overdid it yesterday so today I walked fast and up a hill! Managed 7km.
