Out and About Day

Saturday

We had a slow start today. I got a bee in my bonnet after waking up that Mike’s shirts needed ironing. My ironing life really began when I arrived in Cape Town in the final days of 1982. My first home was Woodstock Nurse’s home and I remember getting new nurse’s uniform and going to the laundry in the Nurse’s home where I learned how to iron. I can’t remember ironing before that. It was always the task of our home help.  For many years, I did almost all the ironing of school uniforms and Mike’s work shirts. It’s a great time to pray for the wearer of each garment. I have not ironed regularly for ages. Mike had a batch of shirts that needed ironing, so I got on with it…

It takes 4 minutes to iron a shirt although it will take less if the ironing board doesn’t collapse. That only happened once!

After breakfast, we went to Builders Warehouse and the surrounding shops to look at stuff. We ended up buying our first purchase for the house. There was a sale on so we bought two stainless steel prep bowls.

On our way home, we stopped by Echo and looked at the enormous task ahead. It’s quite daunting. All of this has to be excavated and the stones and sand sent down the chute.

Tonnes of rocks and sand. It’s going to be very labour intensive over the next couple of weeks but we think this is the hardest part. This is the top of the chute.

It was a beautiful day in Cape Town…

We got home, had a late lunch and then once that had settled I went to gym quite late, hence the late blog.

Psalm 34:17

The Lord hears His people when they call to Him for help.  He rescues them from all their troubles.

These are the days.

Keep the smile going.

God bless you.

In His Grip,

Helga xx 🙂

Gym:

I did it! Slowly but surely, I did the components of the sprint triathlon. I did it at gym and backwards. Normally, the swim is first followed by the cycle and ending with the run. I did:

  • 5km run – 37:45 minutes
  • 20km cycle – 53 minutes
  • 750m swim – 23 minutes
