3-30pm
Tuesday dawned and a beautiful sunny day it has been. Today was one of those days where you wake up and remember it’s going to be an easy day! And easy day it was. I went off to ‘work’ – presenting the Rise and Shine show with my LONG time fellow -worker Wayne! Wayne has been co-producing the Rise and Shine show with me for almost 9 years. It has flown by. I have got to the stage now where I embrace every day’s show with hands wide open. Nothing lasts forever. I don’t ‘hold onto’ the Rise and Shine show. I try not to refer to it as ‘my’ show. It’s the Rise and Shine show and it’s CCFm’s breakfast show. I happen to be the presenter and I absolutely love it, which is why I put work in inverted commas! Next year we will celebrate a decade of Rise and Shining. I hope to be able to cross that milestone! It’s a good thing not to hold on too tightly to anything in this world.
“Do not store up treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy thieves break in and steal. But store up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where moth and rust do not destroy, and where thieves do not break in and steal. For where your treasure is there your heart will be also.” – Matthew 6:19-21 (NIV).
This verse may be referring to physical things, but when it comes to the ministry roles we have been given, it’s a good reminder to enjoy those with wide open hands as well. It’s the same with our children. They are not our own. We control our children for a very short season. We have to let them grow up and we cannot control them then! Whew! The Carol Kent story on Focus on the Family over the last two days bears testimony to that. (Click on the link on the right side of this page if you haven’t heard it before). Our children are not puppets we can dictate to. We have to let them go. That’s always a big one! Every mother can identify with the super-massive Mount Everest of love that she has for her children. Sometimes it causes physical pain! Best leave that deeply held treasure in God’s hands. Always remember God loves your children more than you do. Hard to imagine but it’s true. My love for my family makes my love for Rise and Shine fade into insignificance. 🙂
On with the events of the day. After show prep, I beetled off to the Mall, via the Kalk Bay roadworks, stopping in the queue once and admiring the picturesqueness of Kalk Bay…
I went out for coffee with my friends, which always encourages laughter and maintains sanity! While there, I asked for ideas for a lunch venue with Julian and David and Heidi suggested Clovelly Golf Club, which turned out to be the perfect place for our final meal with Julian before he goes back to Johannesburg…we sat on this balcony….
….and enjoyed this view…. And on our way out, we encountered this fellow…
And that was today, 26th March, the 85th day of the year! I leave in about an hour to take Julian to the airport. He visits again in about three weeks time! 🙂
Enjoy every day! Hug your family. Smile often, better still, laugh! Feel the warmth on your face, admire the colour of the trees. Look up to the sky, notice the clouds. Stop for a moment and just be still. Pray. Seek God’s face in all you do. Life will get easier.
God bless you loads!
In His Grip,
Helga xx 🙂
