2-28pm
The main aim of today was to move 3 tonnes of books out of my house! Yes! My book-buying brother has accumulated (more than) 3 tonnes of books and as I started writing the blog the container was outside my driveway and the books were being loaded…
Many of the books will get listed online http://www.chapter1.co.za/
Apart from the 180+ boxes of books, included in the cargo was a very special item. Mike’s Dad made a writing bureau many years ago and it was always known that after Granny’s death, Mike’s sister, Monica would get it. She lives in Pretoria. So, today, packaged in bubble wrap, this wonderful little heirloom was carefully tucked away at the top of the container. David ensured it was secure!
The books should arrive in Jo’burg early next week. Our hearts have very much been with Monica recently. Her husband, Brian, has been in ICU since 9th April, following a quadruple bypass. The operation was a success, but he has had pneumonia which has left him in a critical state. If you have a moment, please remember him in prayer.
We emptied the writing bureau of a few bits and pieces that had got left in it, including this…
Old South African money….remember those huge R1 coins?! They looked so familiar, yet so foreign. Now we have R5 coins and no R5 notes.
The other thing I did today was finish sorting out the first packet of 443 skeins of cross-stitch thread. I made a thread bed…
I have to dip into the second bag, but I don’t think I will have to sort it quite so accurately to find a few of the colours I need for Stacey’s first order! I’m going to do that as soon as I’ve finished this, because Julian leaves to go back to Jo’burg tomorrow and he has kindly said he will post the order.
In life, when someone is asked to do something, they may think, or even say, ‘what’s in it for me?’ What do you get out of having faith in God? What’s in it for me? This is not something I have consciously thought of before. When I came to know Christ my main motive was to find forgiveness for my sin and peace in knowing I have eternal life. That’s what I got but when you read the Bible, knowing God comes with SO much more. Psalm 103 joyfully recounts the gifts God lavishly gives His children.
Praise the Lord O my soul and forget not all His benefits, who forgives all your sins, heals all your diseases, redeems your life from the pit, crowns you with love and compassion, satisfies your desires with good things, and renews your youth like the eagles.
…and that’s only verses 2- 5. You’ll have to read the rest of the 22 verses to catch up on all of the blessings God showers down on you.
Rejoice today!
You are in His Grip!
God bless you!
Helga xx 🙂
Gratitude Pic…bye bye books. I’m so happy the container arrived safe and sound on a sunny day, so we didn’t have the added complication of pouring rain!
