No Uninterrupted Power Supplies in Cape Town

I really hope somebody can prove me wrong in this, but today when Mike called around, it looks like there are no UPS’s in Cape Town. The suppliers are out of stock. The demand is so high, they have all sold out. Everyone is desperate to try to keep functioning with some degree of normalcy during the dreaded load-shedding times. After exhausting the main stores, Mike gave up and set about putting in motion Plan B.

We have had this generator for two years but have hardly used it. Mike got it out, dusted it off, found an elaborate way to connect it to my office equipment and made a house for it.

Then it wouldn’t start. The battery was dead. All the work was done, we visited friends and charged the battery. For load-shedding tomorrow, we hope to have more success.

The power was off from 6 to just after 8am. I woke a little later than planned but got to my desk and worked from 5-15am to 5-55am, when I shot downstairs and made coffee.  At about 7am, Mike and I went to Echo, parked and walked/jogged to the end of Fish Hoek Beach and back. Turns out it is 4.5km, which was great. It was misty and drizzly. This is from Clovelly side of Fish Hoek…

The tide was out and it made the exercise all the more enjoyable.

I only worked about 6 and a half hours today. Power cuts didn’t work in my favour (it was also off from 2pm to 4-30pm.  Tomorrow will be better.  Should only be 12 noon – 2-30pm

Julian arrived this evening and is here until Monday. Yay!

Titus 2:11

For the grace of God has appeared, bringing salvation for all people.

These are the days.

Keep the smile going.

God bless you.
