Negotiations

Wednesday

This afternoon, Werner, the builder arrived with his quote for the first proper phase of our house build. In fact it probably could be described as phase 2, seeing as we already have had the piles done. This phase is needed to prepare the ground so when the plans are passed, we can jump straight in and do the proper build. He bought with him a computer generated diagram of the framing, which looks awesomely big as it steps up the mountain.

His quote is R370000, some of which comes off the original quote of R3.3 million. The piles that have been drilled and paid for also have to come off that quote, so hopefully we are chipping away at what needs to be done to get this building up.

Part of his quote is for steps going from a patio 30m up to the Gareth’s plot which is directly behind. These don’t need to be built but if Gareth wants them built now and he’s prepared to go in 50/50 with us, then we will ask Werner to build them. So now I am in negotiations with Gareth. Mike is busy drawing him a sketch so he can see what we are talking about and we will speak tomorrow.  If he’s not interested, we will not build the steps at all. Werner will just make a rough access pass. We’ll wait and see what happens.

Today I got a bit of work done and also shredded more paper.  Mike and I went for a short walk. There’s a black south-easter blowing so it’s slightly chillier than the last couple of days. I’m ready to call it a day.

Proverbs 3:35

The wise shall inherit glory, but shame shall be the legacy of fools.

These are the days.

Keep the smile going.

God bless you.
