My Flat

Wednesday

The dawn revealed the promise of a beautiful day…

It was a sunny day with the temperature rising to about 21C and the wind slowed its pace from yesterday’s enthusiastic gale. Today, there are no rattling doors and drafts.  The sea still looks murky and milky with varying shades of aqua spreading across its surface. The rollers and surf down at the beach still resemble the inside of a washing machine, which is not the type of sea I want to dive into.

For me the day began with a drive through to Claremont for ‘Tooth repair round 3’. The tooth colour technician was there to get the proper perfect shade for the new crown. The appointment lasted all of 5 minutes before I was ushered out. Home again in time for my 11am meeting.

In 2009, Mike and I bought a flat in Fish Hoek – it was right after the financial crash of 2008 and property prices plunged. At that very time, we had the opportunity of picking up a bargain.  Adrian and Stacey were getting married, so we bought the flat and Adrian and Stace moved in. When they went overseas, David moved in. When he moved out, Mark moved in. When Mark moved out, Penelope moved in. Very sadly, Penelope has been extremely ill and after an extended stay in hospital, it is clear she will not be able to return. Today, her family gave us notice and we will get the keys back in a month. Our next tenant is (hopefully) lined up – we will hear back from him for sure in the  next day or two. There is never a shortage of people needing accommodation.  I was sad to hear about Penelope. Her health is dire and I am sorry her tenancy has come to an end this way. It’s going to be a new season.

Psalm 95:6-7
Come, let us bow down in worship, let us kneel before the Lord our Maker; for He is our God and we are the people of His pasture, the flock under His care.

Everything we have comes from Him – we are only passing through and the best is yet to come.

Keep the smile going.

God bless you.

In His Grip,

Helga xx 🙂
