Mike’s Surprise Birthday Dinner on the Beach…

1-57pm

Our beach picnic of yesterday evening went off so very well. I was a bit worried about the  little on-shore breeze. I was really hoping we wouldn’t get entirely blown away!  After I did yesterday’s blog, I went down to the beach to scout it out and sure enough there was a little bit of wind, but plenty of people enjoying the beach, so not enough wind to put them off. It was definitely more sheltered in front of the Galley Restaurant, so I knew, when I went down a little later, exactly where to put the table.

At 6-15pm, I was at the beach with all the stuff. Mike saw the table and chairs had disappeared and suspected what I was up to, but wisely said nothing! 😉

Adrian and Stacey arrived about 2 minutes after I did and helped carry the table and chairs to the spot I had in mind. We set it all up & it immediately looked absolutely fabulous. Stacey took these two pics…

I returned home…I had told Mike I was going to the shop for milk which we needed, so I picked that up as well! By 7pm, Mike & I were walking towards the restaurant. He wasn’t quite sure what to expect, but he soon saw the table and chairs on the mat on the beach and I suggested we  have dinner ‘at that table’. Surprise…

We took our seats much to the curiosity and amusement of all the beach visitors. It was only a few minutes later, that Stacey waltzed across the beach with a steaming plate of freshly fried fish. That surprised Mike. Adrian & Stace bade us farewell  and a delightful dinner began…

You don’t get a better sea view than this…this was from Mike’s side of the table…

…and this was my view from my side of the table…

We had a number of people come up to us ‘oohing and aahing!’ I had forgotten to ask Stacey to take a photo of both of us at the table before she left, so I took advantage of the interruption and asked one of the visitors to take a photo…

This is my “Shirley Valentine” photo…

🙂

It is such a spectacular setting and something that we had spoken about doing for quite some time.  It was absolutely fantastic – an experience money can’t buy and we will definitely do it again!

Photographer Amy Dykens says: “It’s hard for me to put into words why I like the beach so much. Everything about it is renewing for me, almost like therapy…Beach Therapy”

I concur!

Amos 9:6  The One who builds His upper chambers in the heavens And has founded His vaulted dome over the earth, He who calls for the waters of the sea And pours them out on the face of the earth, The LORD is His name.

We get to enjoy His creation!

Back to today: – Last Friday night, Mike & I tried to go and see The Iron Lady. It was fully booked, so this week I booked ahead and this evening we are off to the movies.  Mike’s birthday is on Tuesday & we won’t be doing much then so we are celebrating this weekend! David’s birthday (21st) is on Thursday,  and his party a week today. I’m really looking forward to it.

God bless you RICHLY!

In His Grip,

Helga xx 🙂
