This morning, Mike and I left early and drove to Claremont for his eye examination.
As he had not had any issues since Friday, I imagined that the doctor would have a good look and say all was well.
He didn’t.
Instead he said Mike has a Retinal Vein Occlusion (RVO) which is a blockage of a retinal vein. All these little red dots in the right half below are where there has been some bleeding as a result of the occlusion…
The causes are:
- Smoking
- Lack of exercise
- Diabetes
- High blood pressure
- Cholesterol
Guess what? Mike has never smoked, always been active, does not have diabetes or high blood pressure but may have a raised cholesterol. Mine though, is sure to be higher than his.
The doctor said this is very common in men over 60. He sees it almost every other day. Mike’s is very early and so we were grateful we can try to see if it’s a cholesterol related thing. He is going for a ‘eye angiogram’ on 5th December and a follow-up appointment in a month. Hopefully it will have healed itself.
We were very impressed with the treatment AND Mike can still pay golf.
#483 of my 1000 thanks is for the first world medicine we have access to.
I drove Mike home – he had my jacket over his head to reduce the glare. He looked like something out of a Star wars movie…
His eyes returned to normal and by mid afternoon he was fine.
This afternoon we met with the building team at the mountain-side plot. Oh dear. This is not going to be easy. Access is always going to be the issue. We thought the team would have more solutions than we knew about, but they don’t. To get the building material up to behind the house is a mission.
Small steps. We will take one at a time and see how it goes.
We’ll have to pray some more!
Jeremiah 29:12
‘Then you will call upon Me and come and pray to Me, and I will listen to you.”
These are the days!
Keep the smile going!
God bless you!
In His Grip,
Helga xx 🙂
