So today is Mike’s birthday. We headed off just after 8am to Milnerton Golf Course! We have never played this course before. It is beautifully appointed with majestic views of Table Mountain…
With a sand trap of note…Milnerton Beach…
We arrived an hour ahead of our tee off time, so ended up teeing off earlier with a German couple, Wolfgang and Britta who were fantastic players. We had a really good time with them. They were both so friendly and leaving to return to Germany tomorrow after a 6 week holiday. They also knew the course, so that made playing it easier. And guess what? Today was also Wolfgang’s birthday!! That was quite remarkable.
Mike putted really well. The greens were largely great, but some of them were a bit sandy. Naturally golf courses in Cape Town are also taking a hit with the drought but with borehole water, Milnerton is looking great. There was hardly a breath of wind until the second 9 when we enjoyed the breeze – it has been hot in Cape Town today so we were happy about the cool wind off the sea.
The score for Milnerton Golf Club
- Welcome – very friendly – 5/5
- Map for visitors – yes! 5/5
- Fairways – excellent condition –4.5/5
- Greens – most were great condition – 4/5
- Locker room – this was very nice. It had lots of girl goodies like deodorant, hairspray, hand cream, baby powder, shampoo, conditioner. There was a lot of stuff. 4.5/5. I don’t give it 5 because it was not very modern.
Overall: 4.6/5
A lovely morning out.
Change is coming!
From tomorrow, I will not be posting on the Helga’s Daily Blog Facebook page. There’s nothing to stop you coming to helgavan.com, but I won’t be reminding you by putting it on the Facebook page. You can register to receive an email. I’m not sure how or if my writing will change. Time will tell!
#215 of my 1000 thanks is for God’s sustaining hand on Mike’s life. He looks so good.
#216 of my 1000 thanks is for having Mike home for a year. Monday 29th February 2016 was his last working day. He’s been home a year! What a blessing that has been.
#217 of my 1000 thanks is for dinner tonight with David and Mike. It is David’s birthday tomorrow.
My cup is full.
Psalm 23:5b
My cup overflows with blessings.
These are the days!
Keep the smile going.
God bless you!
In His Grip,
Helga xx 🙂
