David’s Birthday

So it was 26 years ago that at around about 2-08pm, I gave birth to a son. I didn’t know what the gender would be.  Stacey was with friends and everyone was waiting for the news. A son was born! As soon as he was born, we knew he would be called David. We were so excited. Born on a Friday, home on Monday. For the last 26 years, he has succeeded, along with Stacey, in bringing us a great deal of joy. One of my favourite photos of him comes from Jack’s wedding. He was Jack’s best man. Here he is with his girlfriend, Claire…

And at another wedding a couple of weeks later, Stacey and Adrian…

These two are my greatest achievements. David is now 26. Stacey is 29.

We had a lovely dinner last night with David and today he popped in before going out for lunch with a friend.

I love the month of March. I remember walking through the Cape Town city centre in March 1990 and thinking what a wonderful time of the year it is. You get these perfect still days where the sun is shining the sky blue and the wind just a gentle breeze. Back in 1990, I remember thinking what a lovely month it would be to have a baby, but, my thought continued, “I will have my next one long before March 1991”. Unbeknownst to me at the time, it would take me a little longer to fall pregnant with David than I first imagined. He was born a year later. And today has just been one of those perfect days. We are heading for autumn. The leaves of the vine are changing colour and some are falling off. Cooler days are ahead and hopefully they will bring with them much needed rain. The worst drought Cape Town has seen in 34 years. We desperately need rain. Fortunately, we still have water in our tanks. Our showers are sailor showers – we turn on the water, get wet, turn off the tap, soap ourselves down, rinse off and job is done. We are saving a lot of water that way.

Every drop counts.

Jesus will provide in the best possible way for our physical and for our spiritual thirst.

John 4:14

Indeed, the water I give them will become in them a spring of water welling up to eternal life.”

I’ve got to wrap this up as I have a Skype call in a few minutes. Work goes on. I’ve worked most of today and will make this call my last bit of work until tomorrow.

And for my 1000 thanks, #218, it’s good to be thankful for little things….Mike’s mashed potato is the best ever. I always just have a little and it’s delicious!

These are the days!

Keep the smile going.

God bless you!

In His Grip,

Helga xx 🙂
