Microwave Died

Sunday

When Mike and I were engaged and shopping for pre-owned furniture, we looked for a microwave.  And we found one! It was a massive Toshiba with an element, so not only did it microwave but it also grilled. It was wonderful. We bought it second-hand for a whopping (1986 price) R450. I remember the price because it was so expensive. Anyway, this microwave lasted and lasted and lasted. Eventually it had served its purpose (22 amazing years). We ended up needing to buy a new one which we did in 2008. We got an  LG – attempting to get one that would equal the Toshiba. It did grill and bake but was never as efficient as the Toshiba. Eventually the grill/bake option no longer worked but it continued as a microwave until last night. Mike went to heat something up and as he turned it on, it started making a very disturbing grating or sparking sound. Mike immediately turned it off.  Something has blown in it.  This morning, I went to make breakfast which almost always included berries (defrosted from frozen) and of course the microwave was broken so I couldn’t defrost them. This sent us scuttling to the shops. We looked at Checkers and Clicks, but eventually settled on this R899 one from PnP as it has a two-year warranty.

Back to defrosting berries and heating food!

Mike and I went to meet friends at Echo at lunchtime, were home just after 2pm and had a late lunch. Now it’s time to clean up and prepare for the weekend ahead. But there’s also some cricket to watch! One of my favourite verses is selected for this day. It’s the reason I’m counting my braces days.

Psalm 90:12

Teach us to number our days, that we may gain a heart of wisdom.

Talking of numbers…watch…

These are the days.

Keep the smile going.

God bless you.

In His Grip,

Helga xx 🙂
