This is a late blog, because I’ve been out all afternoon. This last week, I bought a Groupon voucher to the Eagle Encounters at Spier! Julian arrived from Joburg this morning and so at lunchtime we drove to Spier. Let the pictures tell the story… a majestic autumn day in the Winelands…
The light was tricky – it was very bright and the birds were often in the shade….this was at the eagle demonstration…spotted barn owl

Then it was onto Wally and Mick the two amazing eagles. Wally was a gem…here’s Mike…with Wally…the light was in all the wrong places for photography today…this was as good as I could get it…
Julian and David both held Mick who is 4kg, compared to Wally’s petit 1.5kg weight…
Mick is amazing…
…and quite curious…
It was a wonderful afternoon and well worth it.
Probably the Bible’s best known verse about eagles is this one:
Isaiah 40:31 Those who hope in the LORD will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint.
