Mad Kalk Bay Roadworks

1-48pm

This morning, I headed right home straight after the 9am conclusion of the show. It was plain sailing all the way along Main Rd. towards Kalk Bay. It was only when I arrived about 200m before the traffic lights that things slowed down. There seemed to be some congestion. I waited through 2 traffic light changes and then it was free flowing, until the Fish Hoek side of the harbour entrance. While we were waved on by, more than 100 cars were waiting between Kalk Bay and Clovelly.  Ouch! I had a meeting at back at CCFm later at 11-55 and I knew that in a few hours, I was going to have to negotiate the tiny little bit of roadworks with the massive, gigantic tailback that went with it.

At 11-30am, I left Longbeach Shopping Mall and went over Ou Kaapse Weg to avoid the Main Rd. traffic. GOOD MOVE! When I arrived in Muizenberg, the traffic was backed up from Kalk Bay! The meeting was only 15 minutes long…

Presenters meeting at CCFm…so very soon,  I had to decide which way to get home. I decided on Boyes Drive. It was an easy drive until about 1.5km from the traffic lights. There, we stopped…

Tailback on Boyes Drive….and waited. Soon the cars started moving, but soon ground to a halt again…

Edging closerAnother stop & wait ensued. A few minutes later (it always feels longer!)…this was to be the final stop…

Final stopThrough the traffic lights and round the corner, I encountered the workers working at the small patch of roadworks…big enough to close the lane…

Reason for the hold upAnd all the cars were backed up to Clovelly…

Cars between KB and ClovellyIn the end it wasn’t so bad. Half the deal with coping with these kind of frustrations is knowing they will be there. If I hadn’t known and it was sprung upon me,  I would have been so irritated.  Those who read my blog at the beginning of last month may remember me beginning a ‘no complaining’ year! Well, it all fell apart yesterday and I had a good complain to Mike! Thank you Lord, that Mike can be my sounding board and the other good people who cross my path don’t get the toxic negativity that flows from my heart and head!  What’s in your heart comes out of your mouth…

Luke 6:45 A good man brings good things out of the good stored up in his heart, and an evil man brings evil things out of the evil stored up in his heart. For the mouth speaks what the heart is full of.

I’ve got to search my heart to make sure that it is right with God. If my heart is full of God, my mouth will speak all that is good. With that being the standard, I have a l-o-n-g way to go. But God is gracious & merciful and He does not condemn us. Just keep on keeping on.

God bless you loads!

In His Grip,

Helga xx 🙂
