Lock Down Day 11

Monday

The world is in a strange, fearful state. Watching the news out of New York is nothing less than disturbing. It’s so difficult to imagine what they are going through, with overloaded emergency rooms and the constant call for ventilators and breathing apparatus being broadcast through the hospital. And the ongoing heartache in Spain and Italy who are still burying their dead in great numbers. There are stories of ice rinks being used as temporary mortuaries. So many dying. No ability to have proper funerals or burials. Instead, 5 family members are allowed at the crematorium, where a priest spends 5 minutes in prayer and committal. Then the coffin is gone and the funeral is over. Devastated family members trying to maintain a ‘social distance’ cannot contain themselves. One of them wraps her arms around her family member’s waist and in this clumsy embrace, they weep.

How South Africa will be affected remains to be seen. We went up 70 cases yesterday with 2 more deaths.

For me it was a relatively quiet day.  I’ve done just under 5 hours of work. We needed milk early this morning, so I went down to Checkers and bought bananas, eggs and milk. I was in and out and tried to be as careful as possible.

I started a new puzzle. We took a food delivery. Mike baked bread. The day has slipped by. It has been cold and for the first part of the day was drizzly and damp.  Now the sky is blue and it looks like the rain has gone for the moment.

Half way through today, we were half way through our 21 day lock down.  In these uncertain times, we have nothing to do but trust the Lord for our lives and our health.

Mark 9:23

Jesus said, “All things are possible for one who believes.”

These are the days.

Keep the smile going.

God bless you.

In His Grip,

Helga xx 🙂
