Living Your Best Life

Tuesday

Living your best life. What does that mean? I think it probably means something different for all of us.

One thing I know for sure is that God wants us to be happy. He doesn’t want us or like us being miserable or depressed, lacking in motivation or purpose. Sometimes circumstances force us into positions of difficulty and misery. At that moment, how do we live our best life?

My soul clings to God; His right hand upholds me.  Just hang on; cling – hold on tightly. Better times are ahead.

There’s a few things that have come into my mind recently regarding living my best life. Here they are:

  1. Leave guilt behind. All of us carry some degree of unwarranted guilt. I’m not talking about valid guilt. That needs to be dealt with. I’m talking about feeling guilty about circumstances of which you have no control. You do the best you can at the time. If you have offended someone, but gone onto make right with them, move on. Don’t keep going back. Don’t trip over something behind you. Living guilt free is living my best life.
  2. Give yourself a break. This has been something I’ve worked on recently. If I wake up late and don’t get to gym, I give myself a break. Being kind to myself is living my best life.
  3. Pushing myself to exercise.  If I always wake up late and never get to gym, I’m slacking somewhere! If I’m going to live my best life, I have to push myself to exercise. My ancestors had fat genes. If I am going to beat the bulge, I have to exercise and that means pushing myself to get up and move. By exercising regularly, I’m living my best life.
  4. Good eating habits. This is something I’m constantly working on. It’s never easy. I have a strong desire to eat! But I don’t want anything to control me. By succumbing to bad eating habits, I’m allowing food to control me as if I were an alcoholic that can’t stop drinking. I have struggled with eating too much all my life, but I feel I’m living my best life when I control the food and it doesn’t control me.
  5. A balanced work ethic.  I’ve noticed a huge difference in my quality of life when I don’t over-work. I feel so much better. My eyes feel better. I feel more relaxed. Having said that, this is very much a seasonal thing. There will always be November 2016 – a month of which I am immensely proud  as I worked a whopping 240 hours. I’ve never done it since. I work really hard when it is required. I go above and beyond on a regular basis, like working over the weekend or evening. When I have a balanced work ethic, I feel I’m living my best life.
  6.  The balance of a hobby! Since I’ve started reading more, I’ve found myself absorbed into a different world. It’s been so relaxing and I’ve enjoyed it so much. I think this can apply to any hobby. I think it also applies to pets. Get a dog, get a cat, get a hamster or a rabbit or a budgie or all the above. They are a great distraction and bring a huge amount of joy. I feel I’m living my best life when I have a past time or pet which I can laugh at and enjoy.
  7. Live at peace with everyone. Relationships are so important. It starts in the home. I’m living my best life when I am at peace with those around me.
  8.  Have faith in God. My relationship with God is the foundation upon which my entire life rests. It’s like God being at the centre of my circle and everything else rotates around Him. When God is in the centre, I feel I am living my best life.

I’m sure there are more but that’s what comes to mind today!

Psalm 29:11

The Lord gives strength to His people; the Lord blesses His people with peace.

These are the days!

Keep the smile going.

God bless you.
