Until we get to heaven, life will never be perfect! It is full of compromises.
No perfect country, no perfect city, no perfect suburb, no perfect home, no perfect car, no perfect job, no perfect people.
It’s just impossible to encounter perfection in this life.
There are always going to be vexations! Don’t wait for things to get easier, simpler better. Life will always be complicated. Learn to be happy right now. Otherwise you’ll run out of time!
Such wise advice.
Our building on the mountainside has had to take a backseat. With the rand strengthening, my foreign currency income has devalued over the last couple of months. But more importantly, it’s going to be very difficult to build with limited water. We’ll have to put it on the back-burner and let time pass.
Psalm 143:10
Teach me to do Your will, for You are my God! Let Your good Spirit lead me on level ground.
Such an interesting verse for me, considering the land we are looking to build on has a 30 degree slope…nothing level about it! That’s the verse for Wed 7th Feb. Worth thinking about!
Today has actually been a very good day, without too many of those vexations! I got emails overnight that led to a full day’s work. I did a couple of hours before heading for the gym. Wednesdays, I do the three components of a triathlon. I swam 30 lengths, cycled for 30 minutes and ran 3km, in that order. After the swim, the three spinning bikes on the main floor were occupied, so I went into the spinning room and rode one of the bikes there. I had the whole place to myself with a unique view of the pool. I watched this young guy swimming. He had such a great form…look how straight his body is with the perfect amount of rotation. His leading arm is not crossing the midline. I have a long way to go.
You know they are serious swimmers when they do a tumble turn…
That takes such a lot of energy. I swam 30 lengths crawl with bi-lateral breathing. I am amazed at how quickly my body has adapted to a very foreign action. Just shows if you persevere you can achieve things you never thought were possible. I’ve just got to work on my form – I don’t look as good as this guy and I’m so very slow! I swim two lengths in 70 seconds. He swam two lengths in 40 seconds. Okay, I am old enough to be his mother and have only been swimming for 6 weeks, so I guess I have an excuse. He swam beautifully.
When I got home, I worked pretty much full on until 5pm and then had an early dinner, before going back to work again. I’ve broken the back of it. Tomorrow Mike has an eye appointment, so won’t get too much work done. So grateful for a full day’s work. 🙂
So, it was probably an hour and a half at the gym, 7 hours of work and then I had a remarkable thing happen:
#561 of my 1000 thanks is that I spent TWO hours on the phone to each of my children. David phoned and we spoke for an hour. Then he came round! Then Stacey phoned and we spoke for an hour. Pity she can’t come round, but if she did she would be here after midnight! It was great to speak to both of them. While I am typing away, David is downstairs chatting to Mike.
Happy sigh.
These are the days.
Keep the smile going.
God bless you!
In His Grip,
Helga xx 🙂
