Let’s Talk About Cricket

I don’t know what it was about the first quarter final of the 2015 cricket world cup. I just had a gut feel South Africa would win.

“We’re going to win!” I said that to a number of people before the match. I felt that the Proteas were on the “up”. They haven’t peaked yet. Their victory today bodes well for the matches to come. Of course the competition will be stiff, but today’s solid, crushing performance, the way they worked as a unit made me feel they have a confident determination and cohesion that we haven’t seen in recent years.

There are 5 things I loved about today’s game…

1. We lost the toss, batted second and won the match!
2. Our three main fast bowlers – Steyn, Morkel and Abbott all took a wicket. It was FIERCE!

3. I am so happy Tahir became a South African – his 4 wickets were fabulous and made him man of the match..

4. Duminy’s magnificent hat-trick – only the second player ever to get a hat trick in the history of the ICC World Cup. He certainly chose his moment to shine! You can watch the hat trick here. Got to love it!

With all the bowlers sharing the spoils, it shows everyone is doing their bit.

5. Quinton de Kock was not out on 78 – I am so pleased the selectors gave him yet another chance.

Lisa summed it up…

So excited for the semi-finals. Maybe, just maybe the 2015 Cricket World Cup will be all that every South African cricket fan has dreamed of

Bring it home boys!

I was reading a website about how being a sports fan can become an obsession – I’m sure it is for many people. But there is a balance to be had. And Solomon has this to say about ‘chance’…Ecclesiastes 9.11

I saw that under the sun the race is not to the swift, nor the battle to the strong, nor bread to the wise, nor riches to the intelligent, nor favor to those with knowledge, but time and chance happen to them all.

We will wait and see if this is time and chance for the Proteas.

If it is, we will rejoice with them.

Keep the smile going.

God bless you!

In His Grip,

Helga xx 🙂
